Carefree, Arizona
As of 2015, Carefree’s population is approaching 4,000 residents. Carefree celebrates 56 years of history and 31 years of incorporation. Carefree Arizona is a place for gracious living in a desert forest of rare beauty. The motto of Carefree is "Home of Cowboys and Caviar, Where the Old West Meets the New."

The town of Carefree, settled in the foothills of the Sonoran Desert amid lush terrain and ancient boulders, offers refuge from the larger cities of Phoenix and Scottsdale to the south. Street names such as Primrose Path and Tranquil Trail reflect the town’s whimsical nature. It's not unusual to see Porsches, motorcycles and horses hitched in front of a rustic saloon.

The  Carefree Desert Gardens and the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion hold numerous community concerts and events, such as world class art shows throughout the year.  The Farmers Market is held on Friday's and may include fresh, local, seasonal produce, herbs and flowers; locally made jams, jellies and salsas; fresh baked breads.

America's Largest Sundial sits in "downtown" Carefree, Arizona. It was erected in 1959 and is the "third largest sundial in the Western Hemisphere". The sundial, which points to the North Star, is made from a steel frame and covered in anodized copper. It measures 90 feet in diameter. The metal gnomon, the shadow-casting portion of the dial, stands 35 fee above the plaza and extends 72 feet.

Carefree has a desert climate with hot summers and mild winters. It is at a higher altitude so it is usually a few degrees cooler than the neighboring cities. If you love the old west than you are in the heart of it while only being a short distance from all the advantages of the big city.
